[He was sound asleep and resting peacefully before his planned expedition into those ruins. It had taken him a while to finally doze off and it was likely that not much would be able to rouse him from said sleep.

...Until Elena's scream pierced the night air and Drake immediately flung himself out of bed, grabbed his gun from the nightstand, and ran out of his room.

He tried to open the door to her room, but it was locked and not waiting another goddamn minute he kicked her door open, the wood splintering around the handle, and aimed the gun ahead of him while he scanned the room.]

Elena!?

[It might have all seemed over-the-top, but there was the fact that Lazarevic was still here and this city wasn't very big. He or someone else could have easily gotten in through her window and attacked her ( ... )

[ She hadn't even heard him attempt to open the door. Ever since she had come in contact with Lazarevic, brief as though it might have been, she had started locking it at night to try and make herself feel safer about him being there. She hadn't really thought about the door being broken down to get into her room, though, so when the wood gave a beaten creak and splinters decorated her floor, she jerked her shoulders in a shocked jump and threw her arm toward her nightstand to try and locate her gun until Nate's voice rang through ( ... )

[He doesn't mind at all- except for the fact that she's, well, upset. He doesn't like to see her this way and it nearly broke his heart. Drake tries his best to console her, but he's not that great with fluffy words at all. Perhaps his holding her and stroking her back is enough?

It doesn't seem like it. Sometimes he felt helpless when there wasn't a damn thing he could do, it was something he just couldn't accept; that sometimes there is no quick fix or solution.

Still quiet, still gentle, he continues rubbing her back.]

You're a strong girl, Elena. Probably one of the toughest I know. Which... is why I know you'll be okay.

Maybe not right now, but soon.

Hard to say...

[ Getting over things like someone's death wasn't really something that came to her easily; or 'soon' as he put it. How was she supposed to just let go of something like that? Maybe if she'd be forced into a situation where she didn't have time to deal with it or mourn properly, she could have managed to forget about it sooner.

But being here gave her too much time to think. ]

I don't feel very strong...

[It's the familiarity of Drake's back that catches the young woman's attention. She watches in silence, easily figuring out that the 'friends' the rugged man was looking for when she welcomed him to this world are those women in this dream. The memory, or so Lara guesses, is quite revealing on him and his friends, and her expression softens ever-so slightly. It doesn't come as a surprise to her that the man refuses to leave the wounded cameraman behind.

Lara doesn't wince nor twitch as she watches the dream unfold, even when the Russian kills the wounded man. It's things she's seen before in her line of work after all. Still, there's a crease in her elegant eyebrow: that man certainly doesn't know what mercy means.

She waits for Elena to calm down before she speaks]

I'm sorry for your lost. He was a friend of yours?

[Lara makes a note to ask Drake if the Russian got what he deserved in the end]

[ She didn't recognize the woman nor did she assume she would; after all the people of Somarium could see her dream and she had assumed the moment that Nate had shut off her dreamberry something like this might happen. What a means for meeting new people, really.

Breaths calming, the reporter shifted gently as she tried to decide if she really wanted to talk about this. Then again perhaps it would help her in the end. ]

He- [ She hesitates and just gives a stiff nod, then realizes the other woman might not see it. ] -a close friend, yes.

[She thinks she gets the how 'close' the woman and the dead man were. She nods as well, shifting in her bed to sit up so she can listen to the blond better.]

Would you like to talk about it?

[Lara rarely gives in to comforting strangers, less alone female ones, but she knows all too well how the other woman must feel. And then she figures out that the blond might need a little bit of incentive to confide in her, so she talks first]

This...this is not unfamiliar to me. [She did lost Alex for a moment against the Illuminati while they were searching for the Triangle of Light.] And as much as revenge feels good for a moment, it only last if you do it for the right reasons. For selfless reasons, to be honest.

[Because then you know you've done something that would make the ones you lost proud of you, instead of doing something they would frown upon.]

[ As much as Elena wanted to see Lazarevic get his, she could never be the one to do it. Jeff wouldn't have approved of it, but neither would Nate and in the end, Elena had taken a life to keep hers from ending before in 'trade' of sorts, but she'd never shot down someone in cold blood.

Even if it were Lazarevic, even though he deserved it, the reporter wouldn't be able to handle the feelings that would come with accepting having done something like that to another human being, monster though he may be. ]

I'm not sure what there is to say.

[ The dream said it all, for the most part. The fact that it haunted her was another showing sign of how it was making her feel, but for as much as Elena liked to talk she couldn't find the words she needed to get past what had happened. By all means the woman should want to talk about it, it would be wiser than letting it fester.

Unfortunately, Elena simply didn't know what to say. ]

I'm... Sorry, though. [ It took her a moment to speak up again. ] It shouldn't be a situation that anyone ( ... )
