Kung Lao walked into the dining hall. He was surprised to find the big room essentially empty except for the fellow sitting fairly close to the doors with a book in his hand. Looking him over a second, it seemed to Kung Lao that this was, in all likelihood, his long-time correspondent, Spencer Reid.
Kung Lao approached the table as Reid glanced up, and flashed a friendly smile at him.
"Spencer?" he asked, sticking out his hand, "I'm Kung Lao."
Reid closed the book and offered his own hand. "Nice to finally meet you!"
Kung Lao seemed as nice in person as he had through journals, though Reid hadn't expected anything less. He offered Kung Lao a seat. "I would have, uhm, gotten something for you but I don't know what you like to eat."

"Oh, that's alright, I'll go grab some food in a second," Kung Lao replied, sitting down in the seat indicated by Reid. Reid seemed pretty nice, although Kung Lao was a little surprised at Reid's longer hair. In fact, it seemed to resemble Siro's style a bit; memories of his old friend began to creep into Kung Lao's head. Had Raiden resurrected Siro as well? If Raiden had, Kung Lao hadn't located former bodyguard yet if he was also on board the barge.
But this wasn't the best moment to ponder Siro's current fate.
"-What're you reading?" Kung Lao said, noticing the book Reid was holding.

Reid was unaware of the martial artist's thoughts on his appearance and cheerfully answered his inquiry. "I found it in the library. I hadn't read it before, so I thought I'd see what it was about. So far, it's been a somewhat predictable space-pioneer story."
He paused, considering Kung Lao's attire. Perhaps he was from a time before space travel or sci-fi novels. "Where are you from, Kung Lao?"
