Who: Rex, infirmary staff, people who want to visit him, etc. BASICALLY, OPEN Where: Infirmary lol When: After getting his ass beat by a child Warnings: References to violence? Use of painkillers. Uhhh, that's should be it.
Costigan came down to the infirmary the minute he heard about what had happened, which had come from Dick's general announcement to whoever it was that was included. The inmate loitered around until his friend was alone, giving Martha a look she understood to that effect, and finally approached Rex's bed.
"Hey." A beat. "You look good."
The older inmate pulled up a chair almost immediately and sat down beside the bed, quiet and tense. He'd lost Mal and Howie.. this happening to Rex felt like the universe was trying to fuck him over. Except it wasn't the universe this time; it was David.
Rex offered Costigan a nod and a slight smile, then made a noise in the back of his throat that was something like a laugh. Anything more than that would've been too painful. Rex shook his head and grabbed his communicator, typing out:
look like shit.
Then he smiled to show it was no big deal, that it wasn't upsetting him as much as it actually was. He was trying to put a brave face on things, just so David wouldn't win.
Costigan laughed with Rex, giving a shrug and then a nod in half-joking agreement with Rex's honest analysis of things. He shifted in the chair and gave another nod in an odd immediate nostalgia. "Good shit, at least."
The inmate straightened his cap and tugged at his sleeves then, his entire demeanor changing at the same time into an extreme solemnity. He was quiet for a second, staring at Rex, then he glanced around to ensure they were alone. At last, he leaned forward and spoke in a low voice.
He certainly wasn't opposed to such an idea. After all, he did want revenge, badly, to make up for the damage dealt to his ego, not to mention his body (although that was secondary, always secondary, after the magnitude of past injuries he'd endured), but he knew he couldn't pursue it himself, not without winding up in another cycle of revenge that would hurt him far more than it was worth.
