John had considered himself a hermit for the past few days. He wasn't stupid. He knew that he needed to keep his head down if he was going to continue his work. Valentine's Day had passed without a word from him, and not simply because Will told him not to. He was waiting. Plotting.
His room might have been stripped, but he still knew what he needed to do. However, he wasn't expecting the knock at his door. His first assumption was Will, as they had talked about a meeting after he let John out of zero. But he didn't want to play this game with him.
John didn't recognize the voice, as he hadn't had much occasion to actually hear and process Elle's tone. He really just didn't care about her that much.
Even so, he wasn't sure if he really wanted to talk to anyone, but he was mildly curious as to what she might want. Frowning to himself, he reached for locks that weren't there anymore before opening the door a crack.
Elle smiled guilelessly at John. "We need to talk," she said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world and he was being silly for not realizing why she was there.
She raised a hand and brushed her hair behind her ear. "That's all." She shrugged. "Can I come in?"

Frustrated, he stood up and walked to the door.
"Go away, Will. I'm not in the mood."
