Afternoon, Library (Armand!) ichoosefight February 3 2011, 17:29:54 UTC
[ Steph hadn't been to the library that much since she and Tim agreed to a truce. Of course she almost never went there to read or actually pick up books. It was easy to hide between the bookshelves and pretend that she wasn't completely predictable and anybody who knew her could find her in an instant. Instead she liked to pretend that Stephanie hiding in the library was a completely ridiculous idea. She was so above hiding. Although, to be fair, it seemed unlikely that she would run into Roman there. She kept her practice sticks with her anyway. Better safe than sorry.

So she hid in the library, she wasn't even sure what section, staring morosely at a copy of Treasure Island. It was a good cover for the fact that her mind was far, far away, and it had the added bonus of not making her homesick. ]

Sometime later, perhaps not too long though, quiet footsteps came up along the row of shelves to one side, then paused. After a hesitation that might have seemed suspiciously long, Armand stepped into the gap between the end of this row and shelves along the wall in that area. His eyes were focused on a row about six inches above eye level for him. There were a little more than a dozen narrow books with similar covers lined up there, their spines marked by a picture of a little red flower with five petals ( ... )

Steph was so absorbed in her thoughts that she jumped a bit at the intrusion. She blinked at him for a moment, trying to re-acclimate herself to reality long enough to say "hey Armand," before glancing back down at the page. She couldn't even remember what book she was pretending to read. A glance at the front cover showed her the title and she went back to staring blankly at the page before realizing that she should probably be trying to socialize.

"What's up?"

Armand turned his back to the books he had been approaching, and tried to strengthen his smile. "I was looking for something new to read." The lie sounded hollow to his own ears, but perhaps she'd take it for what it was, a poor cover-up. "Are--did you want something too?"

Dinner Time, Dining Hall ichoosefight February 3 2011, 17:34:16 UTC
[ She was never much of a social butterfly (at least not without making herself look like an idiot), and with things the way they were between Claire, Sylar, Tim, Roman, and her own homesickness, Steph just wanted to be out of the way.

It had always been so easy for her to go unnoticed when she wanted to. Even a lot of the time when she didn't want to. In the dining hall, however, it was especially easy. All she had to do was find an empty table, out of the way, and leave Treasure Island open on the table.

Hopefully Howie's information was valid and she wouldn't run into Roman here, but she never really goes anywhere without her practice sticks anyway. ]

[Morgan was just emerging with her own dinner in hand when she passed Steph and paused on just seeing her there alone.]

You eating tonight, short stuff?

Hmm? [ She glances up, startled out of her moping reverie by the intrusion of... her port mom. At least, that's what Steph calls her in her head. ]

It's that or collapse from starvation, [ she says jokingly, but in truth just sort of... pokes at her food. No mashed potatoes tonight. ]

Late Afternoon (Before Dinner b/c I'm lame like that), CES ichoosefight February 3 2011, 17:37:07 UTC
[ Steph couldn't just sit around all day, so she headed to the CES for a jog. It was more interesting than the track, in any case. Today she found herself in a field of wildflowers, trees scattered here and there, some woods off in the distance. Honestly it was kind of nauseating, but she needed the exercise. She turned on her iPod and pretended she didn't feel like she was in the middle of a cheesy kid's cartoon. ]

Evening, the Gym (Claire!) ichoosefight February 3 2011, 17:40:16 UTC
[ Babs was always trying to get her to focus on the basics. The negative haze was still hanging over Steph's head as she headed to the gym, hoping to pump her body so full of adrenaline that the sheer force of the chemicals would put her in a better mood. Lord knows she hates the funk, and it really just makes her angry at herself for being such a pathetic, angsty little wimp.

With this goal in mind, she practically threw herself at the equipment with a fervor that would make Oracle proud. Hell, it might even make Dinah proud, if she could see Steph now. The weights had nothing on her. ]

[ If she had remembered that Claire worked in the gym she might not have come. As it was she worked herself out until she was gasping for breath. Sitting up on the bench she had been using for crunches she rested her head in her hands and panted. On the plus side, it was difficult to think of anything but the oxygen rushing to her brain. Who said avoiding the problem never helped anyone? ]
