Home in the Morning. general_chang January 22 2011, 15:45:10 UTC
Chang has gotten used to her morning routine, despite the soft bed. She half-suspects that it's that that is giving her the various aches. Or at least, they don't make them better.

She bears this with her usual stoicism but is looking forward to starting her day. It is mostly clean up after yesterday's successful court case, so she doesn't expect to spend too much time at work.]

Ardent stumbled out of bed pretty early, and wanders down to the kitchen wearing a t-shirt and jeans. He's got a hoodie over his arm, but isn't wearing it. He's got to go out soon, but after picking up a stool, he walks straight to the fridge, stands on the stool, grabs the milk and drinks straight from the carton, then goes to the cupboard in search of magical things called 'pop tarts'.

He's not really paying attention to who else is in the room at this point.

Chang observes what Ardent is doing as she makes some tea. Finally, she speaks, as if trying out the phrase rather than actually greeting him. "Good morning, Adam."

"Morning, um..." He pauses, because female pronouns came less naturally to him, especially in reference to people related to him, and he wanted to call Chang, well, Chang. "Mum." He has a drink of the milk, and sticks some pop tarts in the toaster, "Have you tried these? They're quite good, even if they need these weird machines."

He nodded at the toaster. Electricity was a waste of time in his eyes.

Chang enters her office as if she belongs there, handing her coat over to her assistant as she gets a rundown of the day's work.

Once this is done, she sits at her desk and begins her day. Her assistant, counting on her promptness, already has her tea waiting, steaming.

Loose ends being tied up and junior lawyers to be checked up on, today is a light day at the courthouse.

She's at the coffee house, concentrating on her Blackberry, reading through various messages and memos. She has a sandwich, some cake and juice beside her, though its the smell that brings her here compared to a restaurant. He's going to have a pint of coffee when this is all over.

I have full access to his office, his files, his work computer. Plus records of every case he's worked. I can get anything you might need.

She's in a park, sitting on a bench. It's not because her ankles are swollen, no.
