Who: Svetlana and OPEN; multiple threads encouraged What: Sveta needs to get out. No really...come bother her. Where: A common room When: A decent morning hour
Toshiko hadn't intended to intrude on anyone; while she often left her room or went up to the deck to think or work, she still preferred to find a quiet corner where nobody (including she herself) would be disturbed. When she walked into the common room and found it occupied she stopped, lingering awkwardly for a moment.
"Sorry," she said, not even sure if the other woman could hear her.
Svetlana looked over and smiled, shaking her head. She had ended up lounging on a longer couch, her feet propped up a bit.
"Sorry for what?" she asked, sitting up and pulling the earphones down a bit. She always thought it rude to have them in when there were other people about.
"Oh, yes. I am sorry, have we...met before?" Her memory was shaky since she returned to the Barge, but even then, she did not keep track of the people aboard as much as she could. Or...should.
Well, we did say they need to meet!notarrowetteMarch 13 2010, 19:10:36 UTC
Cissie hadn't actually managed to sleep at all. After wandering around the ship and running into a few people, she had spent a few hours in the CES. By the time she wandered into the common room Svetlana was reading in, she was a little tired and sore but still not in the mood to sleep. She wasn't sure why, but she was fairly certain she would sleep well later that night at least. She had stopped by the library to pick up a book herself--maybe it was because of Beatty, but she had an urge to read as much as possible lately. She didn't want to interrupt anyone, so she just gave the other woman a polite-but-friendly smile.
Sveta looked over and nodded once, acknowledging her presence as she shifted a bit in the chair she was currently perched in. "Hello," she offered, not one to sit in quiet silence with a friendly face.
This place was too small to ignore someone, no matter how much you wanted to do so.
"Hi," Cissie said, her smile turning slightly shy. She didn't want to interrupt, but it was nice to see someone friendly. And she couldn't just say hello without introducing herself, could she? (Well, she could, but it would be rude.) "I'm Cissie."
Ruby was bored. There were probably a thousand things she could do right now, but she didn't feel like doing any of them. Where she'd been angry before, now she felt numb. So many people disappearing all at once, Kurt included...she just shut down inside.
As she was restlessly wandering the barge, her ear caught some familiar humming, which turned out to be coming from none other than her former warden. The demon didn't speak, just stood in the doorway of the common room, watching.
She was almost finished with her book by that time, even though she had already been visited by two other people. So, she was desperate to finish it before she went elsewhere for the day.
Consequently, she did not notice Ruby there until she looked up to change the page and spotted her standing in the doorway. Her smile brightened considerably and she sat up, turning off her music and setting aside the book.
"Ruby! How are you?" She stood up and walked over to her happily. "Come and sit down."
"Uh." She really didn't know how to react to Sveta's cheer, so she just walked toward her, to see as she'd asked.
"I'm..." She tried to think of a word to describe how she was, since she knew her former warden would know if she was lying, and would call her on it. She tried again. "I'm..."
She sighed. "I'm here." It was the only thing she could think of.
"That is really the best I can ask of you right now, Ruby." She settled back down and pulled her feet up to the seat beside her. "But...you have a new warden now, do you not?"

But that was not really...who she was.
Setting down her book, she sat up straighter.

"Svetlana," she said and moved over so she could sit if she wanted to. "Are you new here? I have not seen your face before?"

She paused, drumming her fingers on her book.
"How is she?"
