Who: Jubilee + Open (multithreads are beyond awesome) Where: The Deck When: After dawn tai-chi What: Random encounters? Warnings: None, but will edit if necessary
After a couple days on the barge, Jace was beginning to grow accustomed to its oddities. Magic worked differently for different people, not everyone was the correct gender right now, and the ship itself probably shouldn't have been able to exist. But it did.
The past two days had been spent thinking in circles with no real conclusions, and Jace had mostly put figuring out how the ship could exist off to be considered later once he had more information.
A nice walk on the deck seemed like a good way to pass the time, and work out the soreness from his fight a couple days ago. He slowed down to observe a young man kneeling oddly, and apparently deep in thought.
Jace nodded in acknowledgment. He spent a few moments wondering again what it would feel like to be a man in a woman's body. If he got creative with his telepathy he could probably figure that out, but it might cause unintended problems.
Given what he'd heard from others, Jace would probably have his chance to experience the change.
"So!" Jubilee said brightly. "How's life treating you here?" She asked, looking at him. "I mean, interdimensional travel isn't a normal thing for most folks." She pointed out.
When Jubilee mentioned that this kind of travel wasn't a normal thing Jace smiled and laughed a little bit.
"No it's not. This has been good so far. A chance to relax and recover, really. Although my cabin isn't as big as I'd like," He paused for a moment, and added, "Taking a ship is much easier than walking."
While he normally didn't discuss it much, everyone here know about travel between Planes and different societies, so there was no point in keeping it secret. He'd already mentioned it in his journal, and that seemed to be open to others.
"I don't need this ship to travel between planes. Or dimensions, or worlds. Whatever you want to call them. If I know where it is or if I can follow someone's trail I can walk there, and trust me, this ship is much safer and more enjoyable than walking."
Jubilee sat up, her forearms resting on her upraised knees. "Really?" She asked, interested. "I know a few people who have travelled between dimensions. I've done it before," she admitted. "But never someone who does it deliberately. That's kinda neat, dude."
Jace was a little surprised to hear that Jubilee had traveled dimensions as well, though it sounded as though hers had been accidental.
"I've known a few others that could, we're extremely rare." Jace paused to consider how Jubilee might have traveled dimensions if she wasn't a Planeswalker.
"Summoned creatures can be pulled across the Blind Eternities without harm, and this ship manages... how did you make the journey?"
Jubilee frowned, listening to his explanation. "Oh, well, I'm not real sure, actually. A couple times, it just happened, and there was no real explanation." She shrugged. "One time it was because this five foot tall drunken ferret decided a friend and I needed to save the universe."
Hearing that Jubilee didn't know how it happened most of the time was a little disappointing, but the mention of a drunk ferret being responsible drew an incredulous look.
"Are you sure the ferret was the drunk one?" Jace asked. That was hard to believe.
She rolled her eyes. "Yes, he was mixing and drinking martinis as we ran away from the dinosaur." She shrugged. "He also stole Sean's car." Jubilee glanced at him. "Sean was one of my teachers." She explained. "Anyway, Jono and I got kidnapped, and taken to a place kinda like the Barge. It existed outside of time and stuff." Another shrug. "We had to stop someone from blowing up the universe." Again. Oh so jaded.
She grinned. "Is it bad that that wasn't even that strange to us?" Jubilee asked. "I mean, it was awesome, but not strange, really." A wrinkle of her nose. "Our lives were a bit skewed." She shrugged. "But I was talking about your stories, not mine."
Jace shrugged a little bit. "Most of my stories aren't that interesting. It's mostly just doing work, except going to another plane to do it," Jace explained.
"Jobs like... retrieve a stolen scroll from another Planeswalker, go see if someone is lying about shipments being delayed. I didn't even do a lot of travel, and a lot of the places I went weren't very pleasant."

Leaning up on her elbows, she looked over at him. "What do you mean easier than walking?" Jubilee asked, curious.

He decided not to argue about the drunk ferret or universe. "Sounds like you've had a lot of interesting adventures," Jace said instead.
