Jim could've sworn that Shego was getting more annoying lately. More happy go lucky and happy and just goddamn-good hearted. Which, he supposed was pretty normal for her. She was a woman. When it came down to it, all they were good for was warming a bed for a few hours.

He tapped his fingers against his arm slowly, counting every second that she was late in his head. For every single second that she wasted his time, he'd let Bones have another minute with her. Sixty seconds would turn into sixty minutes and so on.

When she finally entered, he jerked his head over to one of the beds. "Oh doctor! Your treat is here."

"My-? Oh. It's nothing." Comparatively speaking. "I used to camp out in the CES when I could talk another Warden into - " She pressed her lips together. "But he'd always find me anyway. You took his Item, right?"

McCoy pulled Jim's communicator from his pack. "He won't be able to track you down so without it, but that's not enough." It never was with Kirk. He glanced at his PADD before putting both the communicator and PADD away.

"I have a place for you to stay tonight- only tonight. You're going to have to keep moving." He started walking, glancing to her. "Come on, follow me."

Her brow furrowed for a moment - she still wasn't one hundred per cent on whether this was all legit or just some lengthy, doomed mind-screw - then she nodded and tagged along after him. "Okay."

McCoy moved in silence at first, lips pursing before he forced himself to look over again. It was unnerving, Shego's behavior, though he could see that stubborn streak she had in his own reality as clear as day.

His own reality. When had that become a normal phrase to throw around? He turned away, looking resolutely ahead as they walked.

"Shego, I don't expect you to trust me but you have to believe we're in the same boat now. J- Kirk, whoever that man is, he's going to be after both our hides for this."
