Pavi blinked, a little surprised to find himself caught out in his exploration but not especially guilty. As far as he was concerned, anything that didn't have a lock on it was public. He offered the Marquis a bright, somewhat chipper smile that should not have belonged on someone as interestingly marked as he was.

"Si," he said - although his voice carried none of his usual accent, peppering his speech was still habit. "You collect many interesting things, no? I am surprised that you have them all hidden away in this manner."

The Marquis hands it back to him carefully, watching the movement of the other man's fingers as he examined it again. "I think that is what it is, but the stories about it were more interesting." He raised a playful eyebrow. "The man that gave this to me told me that it was a key, of sorts. A puzzle. Solving it would open a way into some other plane of existence, a place of horrors and pleasures unimaginable. Of course I don't believe in silly stories such as that, but the notion made it somewhat inspirational. I kept it for good luck for some time."
