Truth be told the blonde was anxious as she neared his room knowing that she was finally going to be seeing him after so long though she knew that it probably wouldn’t be the reunion that she had always imagined. The last time she had seen him he’d been just a ghost of an image on that bloody beach and it had just broken her ( ... )

The Doctor had been so lost in his thoughts that he almost didn't hear Rose's entrance. He lifted his head briefly when she came in, and somehow managed a quick smile in her direction. The Doctor sighed, ran a hand through his hair and picked up his much loved (and very worn) mallet. He ran his fingers over the instrument and watched her for a moment.

He promised Martha he would listen to her -- but how could he listen when he was unsure of how to even begin the conversation. Maybe he should have talked to Jack first, surely the man with no morals where partners were concerned could have some bit of advice. Ah well, they always said that hind sight was 20/20.

So much space between them, and yet the Doctor didn't move to see her either. Right. This was either going to go very well or very poorly.

"'lo," The Doctor said with a slight tilt of his head. He ignored the long-time no see bit, and tapped his foot against the console once more. "She's missed you." So have I.

Rose stared straight at him wondering why he was even holding the mallet. It didn't surprise her when he didn't approach though it still did sting a little but she was determined to resolve this.

"So have I," she admitted still meeting his eyes for a moment before looking at the rotor and then her feet found movement again as her boot heels clicked against the metal floor and she walked towards the console stopping at one of the panels across from him as she outstretched her hand to lightly pat the rotor as if saying hello.

Her eyes settled back on him and there was that urge there to just run up to him and hug him but again she fought against it. "I've missed you too, you know." she started off wanting to let him know what she knew that she knew but wasn't sure how to go about it. And then she found herself unable to fight against it any longer as she approached him without another word and embraced him tightly, her arms going around his neck.

There was no reason he was holding the mallet, outside of the fact it was there and he wanted something to do with his hands. Something in his hands usually kept the Doctor from fidgeting as much and kept his easily distracted mind focused on at least one thing at a time ( ... )
