At the mention of his old body, the Master frowned. "I was quite fond of that one. Tremas's body suited me far more than it did him." He sighed irritably. "Anyway, after a few incidents with cheetahs, the Daleks, and the Eye of Harmony, I found myself restored by our people, granted a new set of regenerations."

He didn't elaborate beyond that. On the one hand, he was pleased with the turn of events-- after all, he wasn't dead (really). On the other... That they thought they could resurrect him and use him like their own little pet soldier (expendable, at that, he was certain), well, that was a bitter point indeed.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you who gave the order."

"Well-- cheetah people," he corrected, as though that made things better and more logical. But now, now that the Doctor was ready to listen to him, the Master felt somewhat triumphant, if only because he could now tarnish the name of another enemy.

"It was Romana, our Lady President."

HOW DID I MISS THIS soundof_drums July 26 2009, 02:21:14 UTC
"Oh, I guess the war drove her a bit mad," he said casually. "Delightful bit of cruelty on her part: she had me returned to life simply to fight in the Time War. She pitted me against the Dalek Emperor... Oh well." He shrugged, smiling. "In the end, I survived, and she and the rest of our people are simply... gone."

"I'm sure she is," he murmured dryly, disappointed with the change in topic. "Personally, I found the creature quite useless."

He scoffed. "Such things come naturally to all creatures. Of course, given your typical companion, I can see why you would feel the need to praise such basic commands."
