coming back [for will]

Helen still hadn't wrapped her head around the idea of mortality which she found strange; she'd spent much of her adult life praying for a natural lifespan. Still, she'd wanted a natural lifespan, not one cut short by a violent illness. Compounding matters was John's return, Nikola's insistence on helping with the map and Adam turning up when he ( Read more... )

Kiss me in the library when you come back to me, when you know.

Will's first thought on getting back was Magnus--finding her, and what he would do when he did find her. It was just his luck she happened to be in the very place she'd wanted him to meet her. Did she even realize? Had she forgotten? Or was it even the right time to bring it up?

"I'm damned tired of being treated like an invalid," Helen said, but her tone wasn't harsh. Mostly tired, as she'd spent the past few days going through an emotional blender.

"Do you see what I'm missing?" she asked, turning a little to look at him.

"No, I don't," he said quietly. "Doesn't make any sense to me." She looked tired, and a little sad, and Will knew he'd done the right thing, leaving her in the past to come back to her now. He couldn't leave her alone with all this shit going down. Not like this. He couldn't have left her alone even without falling in love with her; friends just didn't do that. And whatever else there was between them, they were also friends.

"Magnus?" He knew he should just kiss her, but something made him want to try to see if she still even wanted him to, after all this time.

"Yes?" Helen asked, watching him carefully. "Is there something you needed? I confess, I haven't seen much of you the past few days. I imagined you were busy trying to do my job and wanted to give you space."
