The wind had been picking up all day and the rains were steady but there was something about this rainstorm that just didn't seem the normal sort, not at all. It was subtle, but the winds were coming off the sea and the water was choppier than it should have been for just a normal afternoon storm. It didn't sit right with her, especially since she'd never liked storms and had damn near drowned in one once while off the coast of Dover. If a windstorm was on the horizon such as the likes of a hurricane or a typhoon, Helen wanted no part of riding it out inside her hut, especially since it lacked bricks and solid walls and protection for more than a regular rainstorm.
She assumed Will was in the psychology office, with it being mid-afternoon, but Helen hardly wanted to interrupt him while he worked. No, she'd wait, and if it got excessively bad she'd make a run for the compound and sleep on the floor. Will would just have to guess where she was and assume she was all right, at that point.
Helen had barely turned on her laptop since arriving but now she was hunched over it, hands shaking as she attempted to finish up a report on the vampire squid to file away whenever they got home. Every time the wind burst through the trees she jumped a little and let out an undignified little noise.
She was too old to panic this much. Couldn't be good for her heart.
"Breathe, Helen. You aren't going to die. Will would think you were absolutely insane for making this much of a fuss."
will,
