Hugs. I agree that you really ought to talk to a professional about this, maybe someone at her school?

I know as a parent, I would want to be told, but I also know that keeping confidences is important. I don't know the people involved, but perhaps encouraging your niece to talk to her mother herself and supporting her in doing it?
