You've had a lot of good comments here. Back pain stinks like moldy cheese. I generally take some Advil before going to bed so that my body can relax and work through whatever ails it overnight. A lot of the time, that leads to significant improvement overnight, particularly now that my bed doesn't suck. Tiger balm really does seem to work for some people, like my wife, so it's certainly something to keep around if this pops up more often. Less stress would also be good. A lot of things can go wrong with your body as a direct or indirect result of stress, so don't discount that entirely. A stretching routine shouldn't have to be part of your daily routine to avoid back pain, but it could certainly end up becoming one if you don't eliminate that stress!

Thanks :) I'm hoping that I will get some options to reduce stress in the near future here. Cross your fingers for me! :)

I am SO saving all the suggestions here.

When I talked to my doctor about it, I was told that I pretty much have terrible posture (from years of doing schoolwork on my bed rather than at a desk) and that I should not only stretch, but be much more aware of posture in my desk chair. I'm not sure how you sit, and personally I think that sitting rod-straight in a chair is annoying and uncomfy, but I've been told plenty of times that it's only uncomfotable until your posture fixes itself you damn loony.

I also got a lumbar pillow for my car and my desk; I don't use them all the time, but they did help.

That's for lower-back pain though. This hip thing sounds pointy. Do not want.
