RENT

I'd recommend getting both the movie soundtrack and the original, if you can. The original for the full experience (some songs got cut or dropped for the movie) and the movie for the production value (much love for Tango Maureen, Out Tonight, and some others).

I'd like to see Rent because Idina Menzel's in there and she's the original Elphaba in Wicked, which I love. Plus, we sang some stuff from it at a chorale concert last year, so every time the ad would come on, I'd be singing along...Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes...

Oddly cut and rearranged doesn't even begin to cover it. They chopped the score to pieces, some of which are just barely recognizable.

why are you ashamed of wanting to go see Brokeback Mountain?

Not entirely sure. Mostly because I mentioned casually that it didn't look too bad and was promptly subjected to mockery about my tastes in plotlines and actors.

it's supposed to be really fucking good. It's getting Oscar-level buzz, I mean.

Yeah, I know.

I'll see it eventually - the question is do I shell out for theatre or wait for DVD.
