This weekend made me sick. I mean, it was fun. But here we are, on this beautiful lake, enjoying the summer, and all I could see was the sickening decadence and complete waste of resources. I could give examples forever: we ate all of our meals on paper plates. That was probably the least offensive thing that happened. These are the things people ( Read more... )

This is exactly the kind of stuff I have been thinking about for the past few months. I am with you on every word.

Good to know I'm not alone - I think it's something a lot of people think about, but they don't know how to change anything.

Yes. I've kind of rationalized it the same way you mention, be selfish and spend lots of money on me for three more years so I can go to college, then run away and save Africa.

Btw I agree entirely, all... well most things in moderation. Or not at all depending on how bad it is. And you know the problem with alot of those rich people with their toys. They simply don't care because "they will be dead" by the time something bad happens. Which is quite possibly the worst sort of reasoning I can see. I think I just absolutely hate inaction, and destruction is even worse.

There is only a single good thing that could perhaps come of it. Humanity may unite in the face of it's utter destruction, but then there is something that nags me that we won't and there would just be a massive land grab/military consolidation to secure a future for US like you said... because we have the money and the military. Bah... I just saw a book at my gramps today called, "Global warming and Other Eco-Myths." And I was like... "What the balls?" How can anyone believe this? It just doesn't make sense.
