The Redeye Theater Project (Henceforth referred to as RTP) is a fun event that Pitt's theater department does. Once a while, RTP will put on a series of plays written, directed, and performed by majors and non-majors alike for the public. The plays are short, one-act, self contained scripts, and the playwrights write them after being a prompt. ( Read more... )

I think I've heard of this project! I think they do something similar at my school too.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like it's something particularly unique to any one school. Still fun, though!

It's like a bite-sized NaNo for theatre! Sounds like flail-ful fun.

That's pretty much it exactly! It is certainly fun to watch, although I'm rather nervous about being on the performance end of it for the first time.

This is relevant to my interests. I should creep on you check it out after work that day. I've had some friends do a similar project and it was apparently a lot of fun. Also, those are all awesome audition piece ideas. XD That first one would be so funny to see.

I'm kind of tempted to go with the first one, but I don't know how familiar the playwrights would be with Pokémon. You should totally come watch.

YOU ARE NOT WORTHY ENOUGH TO CAST YOUR GAZE ON HER GLORY!!!!

...So when I was taking theater classes, I kept getting assigned very similar roles. Dominant, aggressive women who liked getting physical. Apparently there was something very dominatrix like about my stage presence or something. One of my performance teachers actually used the word dominatrix in conjunction with me, so it's kind of become a thing or something I DON'T KNOW BRAIN CAN'T BRAIN RIGHT NOW

Well, that's an awkward thing to hear from a teacher. Maybe because you're so tall? It makes you look more aggressive even when you're reserved..

It's theater. Nothing is awkward.

Nothing.

Go in. Eat a sandwich. Stare creepily at the playwrights for 90 seconds. Leave.

Oh man. Please do.

...That would be the easiest choice of the three. Hmmm... Wonder what kind of sandwich I should eat.

pastrami? parmesan artichoke? a sex toy on two slices of bread? a scarf? the options are literally endless.

Well, I'd like to get a meal in during the audition time, so the last two are out. Maybe I should stuff the sandwich full of ketchup and pretend its blood.

...Although if I didn't want to actually eat the sandwich, the sex toy option would have been hilarious.
