I've been thinking about Hyde's voice change since the 20th L'anniversary and I have theories. I want to know what you guys think of them

Tbh, I really really liked his deep voice, I think it was around the time when he just mastered it - and it was just glorious rich tones balanced with sheer powerful singing ability (15th anni for me) that was just amazing to the ears. But yes, I do agree that he's gone higher in recent years, specially for 20th anni (don't get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoyed it because his technical singing abilities were going up and up) I wouldn't exactly say it was 'similar' to the old singing style other than the fact that it was higher because his singing prowess now completely overshadows what he could manage in the early years. I agree with your last points but am more inclined to believe it is a choice he made rather than a physical diminishing of singing ability (which, of course, is entirely possible as well but I can't comment because I'm not an expert) because he always reminds us in some way (for example, i absolutely loved shade of season) that he has no problem pulling out that voice out of his hat anytime, if he feels it suits

I don't think a show is a real show for Hyde unless every aspect of it has been flamboyant and exciting haha. It's what makes his performances so enduring :D
Interesting thoughts you've thrown out there. While I really do miss his deep singing voice, I think it's more of his conscious choice than his health making him do so. I didn't know that he has stopped smoking (good for him!!!), but his speaking voice is still pretty much the same, so I assume that his singing voice would be the same if he wants it to. Ken mentioned in an interview that he constantly experiments with new ways to perfect his guitar playing from performance to performance, so I guess it's the same for Hyde, but Hyde's change in singing technique is more prominent to our ears.
I think his experiments have worked too! The performance of Flower at 20th L'Anniversary was the best ever! and Pieces at the Final left me speechless. I think it will just take a while for us to get used to songs like Drink it Down with his new voice, or even for him to figure out how he wants those kinda songs performed now.
I think the biggest problem with his recent vocals is the amount of fun he lets himself have. In terms of vocal ability, he's only been getting better. In 2006 he pretty much perfected his singing technique, and the difference between the 15th Anniversary performance and everything before is pretty dramatic. The Are you ready 2007, Theater of Kiss, and L'7 tours (especially the Paris show) are all amazing as well. I think he's just allowing himself a little too much freedom these days. He probably just considers mistakes and misteps a part of the experience, which I get. Either way, he can still do everything he was capable of only a few years back, he just chooses to give us a more energetic and emotional performance in lieu of a perfect one, which is totally okay

I have to agree with others and say that the major change occurred closer to 15th L'Anni concerts and that it was him developing greater control over his voice and also properly warming it up before concerts (he has admitted to not doing this for older performances)
I don't think he is losing his voice at all. Just saw him at MSG and it was not in anyway weaker compared to the previous lives I've seen him at. I don't include his VAMPS performances in the equation because they are an entirely different world to L'Arc~en~Ciel. He definitely enjoys singing with less finesse (well rougher would be more accurate to suit the music style) when he is doing VAMPS, so there is a distinct difference there.
I agree about 15th L'Anni concert. Shibuya 7 days made me cringe at times and the amount of progress he made by 2006 was amazing! I'm hoping a similar thing happens in the next few years. He has all the talent, he just might needs to practice his new style more and focus on control.
