I’ve learned
Time and time again
To never rely on people
So much so
I cannot rely on myself

You’d think
At least one soul
Would hear screaming this loud

Every day,
It gets harder and harder
Not to fulfill
My deepest fears.

How do you let go of the people

Who helped you grow

But refuse to do the same?

Even gardeners know

When it’s time to prune a branch

For the good of the plant
