Sorry I haven't posted in a while, life is being quite the jealous bitch right about now and I cannot fucking wait for Thanksgiving. I can't believe you mentioned the HP similarities without mentioning the whole neither-can-live-while-the-other survives crap with Sam and Dean. You disappoint me :) I was actually kind of happy about the Trickster being Gabriel, mostly because I saw it coming not at all. Also, I wanted to know what Gabriel was doing that made Cas realize he wasn't a Trickster, since aren't Tricksters supposed to be almost like gods anyway? I realize it's irrelevant, but this is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night.

Well, they didn't *explicitly* say one can live and the other has to die. They just hinted very very VERY strongly. If there were no legit words, it doesn't count. So says me. ;)

I think it was because Tricksters can make stuff out of thin air, like food and semi-sentient hot women and crocodiles, not fully autonomous pocket dimensions with its own rules and stuff. And, Cas probably realized its MO was completely different from what a real Trickster would actually do in the same situation, ie, a Trickster wouldn't give a crap about whether or not Sam and Dean became vessels.
