Leaving early Friday morning for Utah to go to the Ellison family reunion (great-great-great grandparents, I think, not alive still, of course, but that's the line being celebrated). Arizona's so gorgeous and scenic! There's something about it that I haven't seen anywhere else I've lived.

That it is! It's especially awesome to be out in the desert after a rain when everything just springs to life. I think the land holds both history and mystery in it, secrets and a sense of age that is hard to see or feel in other places where you don't have the bare rock standing proudly and prominently against the sky.
