Then there was the good news

It looks like I'll break my previous high for making money from my lessons. This is good. The bad thing is that this month and last were obscene as far as expenses go having three (technically two-and-a-half) horses who had their teeth floated, spring vaccines, and also shoeing last month (Panda is still shot all-around ( Read more... )

Pet Portraits! I say you charge $100 to just go to their stable around late afternoon/sunset for some nice desert lighting and snap away.

*Grin.* Sounds like a good plan.

Of course, first I need to find the going rates and adjust my prices accordingly. Of course, Mr. Grant (the guy that I use to develop most of my film) seems to think that I should start doing weddings, but I must admit, the thought is a bit indimidating!

Have you looked to see if there are any local farmer's market type things where you could get a space some time and try to sell art? Or if there are any artist get-togethers/groups around your area? People there might have knowledge about selling art locally/getting the word out.

They had a Swap-Meet that started up last year, but it's over for the summer and might not come back for the fall-spring season this year. I was really looking forward to participating this next year too.

I have found a local artist group, Artisans of the San Tan Mountains, I need to make sure they're still meeting and get myself over to one of their gatherings and feel it out a bit and get more involved in the local art scene.

Phoenix has "First Fridays," which is an art walk that opens up a bunch of local galleries and such to the public. I need to get down there and check it out as well.

I have found two local Sci-Fi/Fantasy conventions that I'm going to try and go to every year. I also realize that I'm still at the beginnings of my "career" and can't expect instant success.
