Chen's, the round building right up from where Lake Lansing ends on Larch/Old 27. The have the best Chinese food in town, fresh, hot, meat that looks and tastes like meat, vegetables that aren't soggy, and good prices for the amount of food you get.
I think they've pared it down, but they used to have an entire menu of schnitzels.
Marko is a Croat, I think; he's a restaurateur of the old European school. I'm pretty sure waiting tables is beneath him, but he does it very professionally. It's worth it just for that.
I have so many favorites! To compare them to each other when they are so different is impossible. I will try to narrow it down:
Thai Food From Lamai's Kitchen El Azteco (of course) El Oasis Woody's Oasis Emil's Soup Spoon Cafe Better Health Cafe in the Better Health store in Frandor Altu's Sindu Sansu Omi Brannigan Brothers actually has really good bar food Fleetwood Diner
ok, so that's a really long list. There's just too many good ones. :)
My new (sorta old) favorite is Julie Joe's on Jolly next to Leo's Lodge. It's primarily a pizza place but they make the best chicken nachos I've ever had. It used to be Twofers but now I think it's being run by one of the former employees and they use a lot of the old Twofers recipes.

Sindu I think is on Oakland, an Indian place IIRC...but I need to google Sansu.
