Hey lansingmetro party peoples!

I'd like to know what your favorite restaurant is (and why, if you're so inclined).

It can be a chain or a local joint. Anywhere in the Lansing Metro area.

dining, bar/restaurant recommendations, ethnic food, chinese food, bars/restaurants

Chen's, the round building right up from where Lake Lansing ends on Larch/Old 27. The have the best Chinese food in town, fresh, hot, meat that looks and tastes like meat, vegetables that aren't soggy, and good prices for the amount of food you get.

That's a great Chinese place. Once in a while I get takeout for lunch. It's full of cops whenever I go, that speaks for something.

For dim sum specifically, I like Golden Wok in East Lansing.

I've been to Sahara's but never Woody's. Have you tried Sahara's before? How do they compare?

yeah, Woody's is great. It's a great bar, too, when you're not in the mood for regular unhealthy bar food.

Restaurant Mediteran. Really classy but there's no demand for that in Lansing, so the prices are reasonable.

That's right on Washington near Kalamazoo right? I've walked by there during lunch and wondered how it was.

I think they've pared it down, but they used to have an entire menu of schnitzels.

Marko is a Croat, I think; he's a restaurateur of the old European school. I'm pretty sure waiting tables is beneath him, but he does it very professionally. It's worth it just for that.

And that's not even mentioning the food!

that's my dad's favorite restaurant in the area and he is what you call a "foodie" so that says something. :)

I have so many favorites! To compare them to each other when they are so different is impossible. I will try to narrow it down:

Thai Food From Lamai's Kitchen
El Azteco (of course)
El Oasis
Woody's Oasis
Emil's
Soup Spoon Cafe
Better Health Cafe in the Better Health store in Frandor
Altu's
Sindu
Sansu
Omi
Brannigan Brothers actually has really good bar food
Fleetwood Diner

ok, so that's a really long list. There's just too many good ones. :)

Nice list. A few new names in there. El Az is my fav of the texmex places.

Sindu I think is on Oakland, an Indian place IIRC...but I need to google Sansu.

the Sindu I was thinking of is on Hagadorn in the Hanna Shopping Plaza.
Sansu is also in that same plaza!

My new (sorta old) favorite is Julie Joe's on Jolly next to Leo's Lodge. It's primarily a pizza place but they make the best chicken nachos I've ever had. It used to be Twofers but now I think it's being run by one of the former employees and they use a lot of the old Twofers recipes.
