Diana Costume art practice

So, I'm goofing off and practicing drawing Diana and I remember some of the talk that aylara had on her LJ a few weeks ago about the nature of Wonder Woman. Talk was made about the costume and how it needs changings. I'm pretty sure that ruckawriter or Gail Simone said that he tried to talk to DC about changing the costume and they said flat out no ( Read more... )

A Diana paper doll - just how cool is that? Wow!

And I love the red outfit. It's attractive, properly warrior-ly, and also completely believable in terms of her being able to battle without worrying about costume slippage.

Awesome. I do hope you're going to do more. :-D

I need more ideas as to what to do. I'm going to do something more greek, like what I had drawn for the cover for Superman 26, and something with Diana finally taking her birthright as Queen.

Multiple swords! Sure, she's an ambassador for peace, but the reason why that works is because clearly everyone is terrified that if they don't get along the crazy amazon will cleave them in two! You know, like how Frank Miller sees Wonder Woman! I kid, I kid!

And I totally ganked the tiara shape from the direct-to-dvd movie that Warner Premier Animation did. It's SO much easier to draw.

I like the fact that the bracelets are NOT an option. :)

Of course they arent! They are what makes her Wonder Woman along with the Tiara and the girdle(belt). I need to figure out how to make the belt an affixed, unmovable layer without putting it under all the clothing layers.

You realize now I will have to go buy magnetic printer paper, cut them out and have a Diana paperdoll on my fridge now, right?

Heh. Different eras? Steampunk Diana? Sci-Fi Diana? Formal sort of Amazon Princess like http://www.tonnerdirect.com/p-549-wonder-womantrade-is-athenas-champion-tonner-con-wizard-world-philly-special-edition.aspx ? XD

Yeah, I was planning on doing a formal one and a golden age one. Steampunk has kind of already been done in that one Elseworlds story, but I'm sure with my knowledge of Edwardian costuming I could do much better.
