And, just out of curiosity, would any anti-Bush voters be surprised to hear that perhaps President Bush DID in fact serve his country in an honorable way, but is unable to tell anyone because of the nature of his mission

I will be voting against Bush this November. Yes, it would in fact surprise me if Bush was involved in a secret mission. I will cite this as a source for a timeline and keep the politics of that page out of it. Bush was in the National Guard 226 days his first year, 313 his second -- and that's where the information is called into question. You're suggesting that someone with 2 years of service (the well-known son of a well-known senator I believe) was involved in secret missions that cannot be spoken of here 30 years later. Sure, it's possible. Occam's razor suggests this not to be the case. All our enemies from 30 years ago are either dissolved (USSR, East Germany) or in very different positions (China, North Korea, Cuba). It is doubtful that a Guardsman of 2 years would be involved in sensitive operations ( ... )
