I was sick for most of last week so that torpedoed any post-con entries I would have made or any other plans I had. Like some entries for our Nonfiction Blog, which unfortunately were also shot in the head by the website being down or slow. To be fair to Mr. Kim, legally he couldn't stream since he owned a lot of rare stuff that I imagine would be a pain to find the copyright owners for. However, I don't think anything really would have stopped them from starting up a mail-order business like Netflix that could operate locally. But I think they probably wanted to keep some of the rarer stuff under tight control, because it was harder to replace... and though they could have broken the law and just rented out DVD copies, putting it up on the Internet makes them easier to track and crack down on. It always drove me nuts that they did rent out some bootleg stuff (notably fansubs), and it was hilarious that when they were busted, it was for mix-tapes.
I've rented some weird shit on Netflix.
