Marsha! Marsha! Gloria!

I found myself walking in the rain without an umbrella, again. I really need to stop losing them. I had to nix working in my studio today due to too long at the doctor's. I train at the school tonight, and then I workworkwork. I work a double tomorrow; well, may as well be doubles from now until next Tuesday, really ( Read more... )

I had similar surgery about ten years ago to remove some nasal polyps. One thing to consider when they work on your septum is that there will be a danger/chance of it collapsing slightly when you're older, probably not enough to see, but enough to restrict airflow again.

Coming out of anethesia from that surgery was the worst physical sensation of my life. All the blood from the surgery drained into my stomach, as soon as I was half conscious I began throwing up, which is a difficult thing to do when your nose is bandaged up tight and you have no clue what's happening. I might have been able to handle it better had the doctor warned me of the possibility in advance.

Sorry for the scary story, but at least you can discuss these things with your doctor first, and be prepared.
The actual pain from the surgery was nothing, I was back at work the next day, I just looked like hell with the swollen nose and bloody bandages.

It's entirely different now. You don't have a bandage on your nose, maybe a little packing under your nose. They put in some dissolving stitches inside, and you're only out for 2 days or so. No real swelling, no black eyes, etc.

Trust me, totally different, now. Glad I'm having it done now! Only thing I need to worry about is not getting nosebleeds for a couple of weeks, so no high impact stuff, no heavy lifting, and trying not to bend over and crap too much. Oh, and sneezing open mouthed (lots of tissues on hand, I'm sure)

For some reason I want to say it's not under general, but could be my wishful thinking working.

Actually, my surgery seemed very similar to what you're describing. I think it must have been a long long time ago for the old time surgery he was describing. It's also entirely possible my surgical team was just too lazy to suction up the spare blood well.
