Oh, my -- you took my every notion of why I (if I was forced, at gunpoint, to choose) preferred Kelly to Astaire, and destroyed it with that one video ... and of course I've not seen Band Wagon.

The second one was the real find, for me, though -- Dolores Gray -- damn! what a character! and chops beyond ...

(And look! It's the honey-voiced and debonaire Peter Leeds handling Gene Kelly in the cut-aways. "Always Fair Weather" goes right onto my list.

Add in Cyd Charisse and you get magic.

Truer words were never spoke. I was in the mood to re-watch the Band Wagon and Royal Wedding (Fred dancing on the walls!) a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't find the tapes. *sad face*

Astaire was such a genius. You'd never know that that was the guy who danced "Cheek to Cheek" except for the level of mastery he shows. What an incredible talent.
