Somebody opened one of my front window screens in the middle of the night and my diabetic cat Swifty escaped. Whoever did it couldn't get in the house because the inside window has a lock. Nothing was missing. Aside from my cat ( Read more... )

(I think she liked getting the buzzcut. Maybe we'll need to run the clippers against her head to put her to sleep in the future.)

hee! I know a lot of babies find drone-y kinds of noise to be comforting so that plus a gentle scalp massage? Baby calming heaven!

Look low, near and under. When my inside cats have escaped, they have almost always gone under stairs or behinf stacks of things or,in one case, in the house under the stove. Mine have never responded to calling, but they have peeked out if I just sat near the escape xone for a while.

I hope you find your kitty soon.

thank you so much. I've been wandering up and down the street and looking under the bushes. I'm at home now with the door open and I put some food and a blanket from the house (covered in cat fur like everything else in the house) on the porch. Hopefully that will orient him.

My street is pretty quiet, thank god, but there's a couple of busy streets a block away so I really hope he's just laying low somewhere nearby.

My friend is out looking for him now.

I'm pretty sure if he was IN the house he would have come out by now. I've checked his main hiding spots and he usually comes when called even if he's freaked. And he loves getting his insulin so he should have come out for that if he was in here.

Oh no, poor Swifty! I hope you find him soon! My cat Gordie is a bit of an escape artist and I've found these days when it's so hot, he tries to find the coolest, darkest places possible to hide when he gets out. Check under bushes and anywhere there's grass (cooler on those paws than concrete) and/or shade. And don't forget to check up high too. When Gordie gets scared during one of his wanders, he likes to climb up to the roof of my neighbor's porch. How he does it is anyone's guess, but I've usually needed a ladder to get him down.

Lots of love to you. I hope he's home safe and sound very soon.

thank you

we've definitely spread the word that he's missing and, sadly, saying that he went missing as a result of an attempted break-in will probably motivate people to spread the word even more.

FWIW, when I was telling people about him today, a lot of people mentioned they'd already seen the posters. So obviously they're getting noticed, and hopefully with so many people aware of who he is, he'll get found soon. If he isn't picked up by tomorrow afternoon, I'm happy to come back after work with Hank and really scour those empty lots and bushes.
