Tired but Triumphant
Woah. Yet again, after much frustration, everything falls into my lap unexpectedly.
Managed to successfully mail cloth covered package. It was around $120 US. OUCH. That's pretty expensive, to me, for domestic shipping, but not necessarily for international, and it was pretty heavy. The purpose of the mail was to mail heavy stuff home to avoid ( Read more... ) -
F*%&ing post office
I should appreciate that I managed a set of errands with only one major snafu - the post office. It turns out, you have to cloth wrap packages to mail international. I can't really blame anyone for not telling me -- after all, how often do we mail international packages in the US? But, it meant I shlepped my big box for the mail all the way ( Read more... ) -

Now, it seems, I have a little time to breathe.
Just a little, though, there may be a wedding on the 30th-31st in Mysore that I might go to. It's my choice - if I go to the wedding, we'll also see some museums we missed in Mysore, and maybe do some Mysore silk shopping. Brief hello
This will be super brief. I'm in from Mysore (got in at 10:30, now it's 12:30), repacked and I'm off again to Trivandrum. The trek starts at 6:00 AM tomorrow. This is the biggest outing yet, unsupervised. I take an auto to the big bus depot, and then take the bus to the airport. Airport to Trivandrum. I begin to understand why Indians have such a well developed astrology system. It seems to me that life here is much more prone to the vagaries of fate than life in the US.
