Woah.  Yet again, after much frustration, everything falls into my lap unexpectedly.

Managed to successfully mail cloth covered package.  It was around $120 US.  OUCH.  That's pretty expensive, to me, for domestic shipping, but not necessarily for international, and it was pretty heavy.  The purpose of the mail was to mail heavy stuff home to avoid

Jewels and clothes are so wonderful. I reiterate: Fashion show when you get back, please please please!
AND: Please remind your acolytes about that shipping cost and hassle when they look at prices of imported goods. Yes, a sari costs 15¢; it then costs $3,000 to get it back here. Oh, and another $3,000 to get to India to pick it out. ;-)
(Seriously, I am in the process of writing a little essay on why re-enactor goods cost so much; can I use your post office tales?)

Certainly! When I get the package at home, we can weigh it - too, so we can give a real accounting of it. It was "pretty heavy, but carryable" which puts it somewhere in the 30-40 lb range given my Glamazonian nature
