Ready for the final breakdown?

Last night I watched Children of Men on TV. First time I watched a whole movie since...my birthday. And oh gosh it was such a...horrifying great movie. Seriously, I think more touching than this only Blindness, adapted from one of Saramago's works. These kind of films, of what could possibly be our future just give me the chills. Evenmore because ( Read more... )

So I'm not the only person who has seen Blindness? *dies of shock*

Then again, to be fair, I invested a lot of time into trying to forget that movie... It did make me feel beyond uncomfortable, and while I guess it could be praised for being so gritty, I... *grabs more brain bleach* There's a lot I'm able to take, but I think part of it was also how dragged out the movie seemed? Like anything negative they could think of, they had to put it in there... and drag it out for half an hour.

That, and I tend to prefer comedies overall. I guess I'd rather escape the world than dwell even deeper into its darkside.

Oh of course not. Since I'm Portuguese I was at least curious about the movie since the critics said it was good. Never read ny work by Saramago, though, but I'm planning on starting 'Blindness' soon.

Hm the movie also squicked me to no end, really. I mean, how mean can people be =/ And that rape scene was really brutal, and when they washed her body... gosh.

I haven't seen those movies, nor would I want to in the future, from what I've heard anyway.

Children of Men is one of my favorite movies! I actually not a big movie person, but that was definitely one of the best movies I've seen that came out in recent years.

I haven't seen Blindness, but the book is one of my favorites! Did you read the book, and if so, did the movie do a good job with the adaptation? Not gonna lie, I could see a movie version totally fucking it up :-\

Is it? It's much too tragic for me (in every sense of the word.) I guess it's the prospect of it being a possible future that gets to me. Such a dark movie.

I'm currently reading the book. Still at the beginning but from what I've read, the movie totally blew the scale. Seriously, the movie is awesome and has the same vibes of Children of Men for me. Really amazing and got very good critics at the time and from Saramago himself too. You should watch it~
