despite the fact that their self-titled album is one of the greatest selling albums of all time and even the shittiest of albums they've released since have peaked at Number One on the Billboard charts.

That's kind of redundant. Garage Days 2 was the last Metallica worth listening to.

There's a very simple explanation-- it's between GW2 and Metallica that they sobered up...

I was going off Billboard album sales figures. Yes, their album sales sustainability has deminished since the black album, but every album had peaked at Number One and enjoyed a decent amount of success, even St. Anger.

It does read a bit redundant, but the intent was to point out that the black album literally is one of the greatest-selling rock albums of all time, and the others, although they didn't generate nearly the total sales revenue that the self-titled did, have been successful. I was actually putting them into two different sales categories, but within the same sentence.

I was making the point that it's fairly hypocritical for a undeservedly successful band to claim their album sales have diminished over a period of time when they were enjoying the greatest successes of their career.

I certainly didn't mean to attempt a refutation of your point, which I absolutely agree with. I was making a tangential comment about the distressingly bad taste of the American public.

When I read your comment saying it was redundant, I looked back at it and realized how it could be read that way. I was looking at the word in context of the quote only, so it was my misunderstanding.
