Is defenestrate a transitive verb? I watched this movie the other night, where this girl would sleep with this guy, then exit via the window to run away from him. Is that defenestration, or does it have to be done to her, as in the Prague example given?

Transitive, check, according to dictionarylink.com.

Congrats for the nerdiest question on the nerdiest post!

It's on! I use the phrase "out the window" a lot, as in "well, now that we didn't get funding that project's out the window," so I'll bet I can use defenestrate in that context. 'Cept I'll need to think of some much better uses than that.

My boyfriend and I were mock arguing last night and I said "I swear I'll defenstrate your guitar". He was like, "What's that?"

Hehe fun fun.

Given that my wish list contains something like a thousand items, can I at least specify which wish list?

Screaming: KMFDM - Juke Joint Jezebel

Bloody well RIGHT.

Can I use a variant? (Specifically, "Defenestration.")

Sure, you can specify the list. And, yes, variants are acceptable.

How about: "If you don't shut the fuck up, I'm going to defenestrate you." I bet that would strike fear in the hearts of the stupid. It sounds somewhat like a lovely cross between "disembowel" and "castrate."

Did you pick up KMFDM on my suggestion, or had you known about them before? I absolutely love "A Hole In The Wall," but that's on ANGST.

Nope, I've been a KMFDM fan for a while. I've had some cool boyfriends in the past.

Your usage of defenestrate is perfect. I need to try it on a drunk friend.

Yeah, well, don't buy me anything from my Amazon wish list. It's so outdated I probably already own everything on it. I have two that I'm not allowed to update or delete anymore because I've had to change accounts so much.
