It occurs to me that comic book movies have gained such wide acceptance, in part, because the genre tropes - super-tech, genetic engineering, bast hidden networks and conspiracies-are on the edge of being everyday life.

I'm generally not a nostalgic or sentimental person, but when nearly everything you know is a decade old, and everyone you know has virtually disappeared, is it even possible to avoid sliding into that sort of mindset? At least somewhat?
