Kissing in the Rain

I have stumbled across something that I think you may adore (if you haven't found this already through aggiebell90 or rumpelsnorcack).

It's called 'Kissing in the Rain' and it is a series of short videos about James and Lily, only it's completely AU, twisty, and there are characters within characters. The premise is that there are two actors named James and Lily who keep ( Read more... )

Interesting that someone would go through a lot of trouble to take another artist's fictional characters in to another fictional plot. Fan fiction on film. This is the first I've seen of that. I half expect Rowling to pop up and object. She's been firing left and right lately about her property. It's OK, but I prefer Snape and Lily myself.

I suppose in many ways it is a form of fan-fiction, but in the case of this series the director is paying homage to a lot of classic romantic characters (for example, in the second episode Lily and James play Anne and Gilbert). It is possible that JKR would interfere but I don't think she will. There is nothing to tie it to HP directly except for the first names of two characters (and those names are not that unique). The director has talked openly about her roots in HP fandom on her tumblr, but she has also made sure to avoid it when promoting the video on YouTube so...maybe? But I think it unlikely.

Interesting. The play within a play has worked well for ages. Anne and Gilbert would be interesting to see.

It is. They are all quite short so it really takes very little time. I am enjoying the series so far. :)

I was SO excited when I saw these, because I miss LBD like crazy, and I haven't really found anything that had the same...feel (??? not sure if that's the right word). I'm way, way behind on The Autobiography of Jane Eyre, and while I've (mostly) kept up with Emma Approved, it's not quite doing it for me, either. (I'm behind 2 episodes, I think, but I'm mostly only watching for Knightly and Harriet/B-Mart.)

But this? This I love, so far, plus the addition of the fan-canon? It's awesome.

Also, Mary Kate Wiles is a goddess. I fangirl that woman so freaking hard, it's unreal.

I am so excited that you found this! I was positive that you would love it as much as I do. It's just so much fun.

I have tried unsuccessfully to love AoJE. I do love Jane. She's perfect, I just have a hard time with the rest of it, I guess. And as far as Emma is concerned I could take if of leave it--unlike LBD, which you seriously couldn't drag me from. (Did you see the series of twitter posts last week between the LBD characters?) Emma is just a bit too polished (or something wholly undefinable like that). I do love Harriet/B-Mart though, and Frank Churchill was just introduced this week so that may turn out to be fun. Jury is still out. But KitR I love love love, no second thoughts!

*Bookmarked until I have time to watch.*

I love the premise! I'll share my thoughts when I've actually watched. Thank you!

How do you find these little gems?
