More on "Not Wedding"s and "Not Plan"s and "Not Normal Venue"s

Oh my gosh!  After that last post and after sending out the message to some of my friends here as well, I feel so much more...er... overwhelmed than I did when I was just, you know, talking to Derek the Event Coordinator at Gen Con.  Apparently there are these things called plans and people are very interested in them.  It seems that people have ( Read more... )

I can offer some help on the planning front if you feel overwhelmed. I've done a bunch of searching and planning for my own theoretical, eventual wedding, and I have a bunch of links to steampunky/clock themed stuff and resources for decorations that would fit in with your theme.

Since my link fu is weak, I went ahead and put some things that I had saved into an Amazon wishlist you should be able to look at to see helpful things like images and links. Hopefully it will provide some useful inspiration and resources. There is a lot there: invitations, dresses, jewelry, reception decor, flowers, etc.

A cursory clock count around the house reveals five that I can volunteer for decorations.

Seems to me we should receive the invitations only after attending, in the spirit of the event -- which gives you more time to make them. On the other hand, it also means you should write thank-you notes before receiving gifts, which sounds like more of a problem...(I adore time paradoxes...)

I need to check Lj more often! Anyway, don't get overwhelmed. I feel your pain in that the whole concept of this wedding was to make it as un-stressful & unconventional as possible. It seems that you have a great deal of type-A friends (I'm guilty as charged) who yes indeedy like to plan, plan, plan. Use it to your advantage since this is the part you dread!

I sent you a FB message, I'm gonna be in Carbondale if 2 times in the upcoming weeks if you wanna get together and not talk about the wedding.

That said, THANKS FOR MAKING ME ONE OF THE CHOSEN FEW :)
