Book three for me, too! Ever since it came out, it's been my favorite. Second favorite is harder to narrow down. I think, if we ignore how annoying Harry was, 5 was pretty awesome. I mean, that's when the overall plot of the series really got going. I loved the results of 6, the Snape controversy, but the book, well, it was a HP book, but it wasn't Prisoner of Azkaban.
Also, Patronus = coolest thing ever. (I took a quiz the other day that said mine would be a bunny. HOW ADORABLE. that would work really well! I'd come up with a happy memory, then see a bunny and just be happier and happier!)
HAHA That is such a cool thing! A bunny! Yeeeah, that would make you even happier.
Book 5 was good, it's when it started to get soooo much darker, but I just can't. stand. Harry!! I mean, hooray, she wrote a teenager going through angsty stuff, but still, I can't stand seeing it let alone reading about it, haha.
Yeah! Every time I read it I like it a little more I think. It seems to be the book that ties LOTS of stuff together and then when it all explodes.... it's still sort of tied back. Good times!
Still, I do reeeeally love the first book simply because it just had me so hooked straight away! :-D
I also have the first book as a close second favorite. As you say, it totally hooked me... but also when you look back at it, for how short it is - it's PACKED with information that doesn't become clear until later in the series. Those throw away lines aren't so throw away. THAT'S what keeps me around....even after the EWE of doom...
I have it sitting on my bedside table so I can reread it. It'll probably get me totally rehooked on the series. Looking forward to it ;-) And you're right, it's SO full of stuff that doesn't quite become clear until later, even if it seems totally clear atthe time...
