I really like this a lot. You really give a believably picture of the 17 year old version of Sam and Janet that meshes perfectly with the characters that we know and love. All Sam's teenage angst and first love nervousness is perfectly portrayed as is her conflict with her Dad and comfort with Uncle George. Janet's and Sam's first kiss is perfect. I feel sorry for Uncle George having to answer courting questions, poor guy. I like the scenes starting with the chess playing and then Sam reaching out to Cassie the same way Uncle George did. The missing scene is more like an epilogue. "Army Brat" is perfect but this missing scene is really the cherry on top. You have a gift, a talent, and I want to see more fics from you.
