I've been going back through past lj entries, specifically the ones when I was panicking about not having a job lined up after finishing grad school. I can see that the same panic I had then, I am having now. Everything turned out fine then, everything will turn out fine now

Because you're a responsible person who does what she's supposed to do, and the Universe doesn't always play fair. There's no way around it, unfortunately. But... know that whatever happens you're friends are there for you. And while screaming and crying are totally understandable, stop throwing up, that's not good for you.

Luckily, I haven't actually thrown up yet. I have had moments of nauseousness, though.

Yes, it is exactly that. The universe doesn't always play fair and it makes me mad. Also, my mantra of "if someone hired that idiot, someone should definitely hire me," doesn't seem to be working.

Because you like to have stability and a plan. It's hard just going with the flow, although it would be a smidge easier if you weren't leaving someone you love behind. Or if the economy were better and there were jobs aplenty. Or if you wanted to stay in lab work. ;)

If it's any consolation, I'm going to be going through this too in 3...2...1...

Plus, I have a baby on the way and student loan bills that will be showing up soon. No pressure.

Yeah, I think you win the Life Uncertainty Olympics. This time. ;-)

I keep telling myself that life can change very quickly, and everything will probably sort itself out within a couple weeks at the last minute, but jeez, the waiting is killing me.

Thank you for my gold medal, but I must graciously point out that the Silver medalist is going through this NOW. My job-hunt/baby/dissertation-defense hell-scape isn't really going to kick in until Spring.
