Mechanic that doesn't suck!

So, on a hope and a prayer, I called Extreme Auto based out of Clackamas that was a mobile mechanic. It looked like it was going to be A LOT cheaper than having it done at my old mechanic, who I wasn't all that thrilled with to begin with, but it's nice because it's close to the house ( Read more... )

That's awesome that it didn't become something astronomically expensive. One of my co-workers wasn't so lucky, as his timing belt on his vehicle had to be completely replaced. D:

I had to have that done back in 2007, as well as a bunch of other touch-ups, and ended up shelling out almost $900. D:

I have a universal transit pass, but it's about 3/4 mile walk on a narrow road with no sidewalks and a homeless camp juts off of it. Not the place I want to walk after dark.

*hug* it's easier with a car. :)

Well, that's kinda the clincher -- it's didn't have to be that way, but [insert 25-page rant about automotive industry lobbying during the 1950s :) ] really kept us from structuring our cities to make 'em as transit-friendly as they could've been. It's easier in a car 'cause someone who made cars decided to make it easier ( ... )

But anyhow, the important thing is I'm really glad you guys have been spared some cash and a weekend of waiting in suspense. Big sigh of relief. :) *hug*

The STARTER? Woah. I believe it, it's just, that's often rare for it to happen while in transit. Typically the starter won't start, or once in a rare while, the solenoid gets stuck on (which is really dangerous, as it leads to the starter overheating and catching fire).

Either way, yay for working carses!
