Preach it to the choir, sister.

I don't remember people freaking out this much about snow when I was in school and now, it's an epidemic.

It's not like students have to WALK anywhere either. Gads, I remember going to LHS in huge drifts of snow. If the buses could get through, we all did. End of story.

No kidding. I'm sure they're afraid of lawsuits if some kid gets a cold or twists and ankle or something, though.

I'm sure threatened lawsuits play a factor. Back in the day no one would have thought to sue if their kid fell down on the way to school.

They close schools for any reason now... Teacher has a hangnail? The whole school closes.

It's absolutely ridiculous. It's like all of a sudden, after being in existence for over 150 years, the state of Kansas thinks snow is something new and unusual.

It's just as bad in Southern California and they don't even have snow there. Trust me - most kids spend more time out of school than in it no matter where they live.

We had to have over 2 feet of snow to cancel in Cleveland. In Buffalo-I think it's 10.

Here in Sharpsville-a dusting. Woosy white folks.

Back in the early 80s my uncle was the superintendent for a small town in southern Indiana (which might as well mean it's in the south) and people were up in arms when he wouldn't cancel school over a dusting of snow but, though he was from southern Indiana, he went to college in Montana and he wasn't going to call off school for stuff that melted as soon as it hit the ground!

So far all we've gotten is rain today. Maybe that'll ice over tonight, but that's long after school would be out. I would hope that all the people whining on the paper's comment page would feel stupid about it but I doubt it.
