Snow Day!

Our idiot governor said if you don't have to go anywhere, don't, so I'm actually listening to him. I feel a tad guilty at the moment since there's only about two inches out there and it's just lightly snowing (and thundering, yeah, FML, thunder snow with lightning and everything) but it's supposed to get heavier in the next hour and may come down ( Read more... )

You should look into getting your prescriptions from Canada by mail. My Mom was doing that because hers were so expensive. I can ask her about it if you'd like. Since Dad got his Veteran's disability, she gets her healthcare taken care of but it was costing them around $1500/month for her insurance and meds.

I'm thinking about looking into a drug insurance rider even if I have to pay for it myself with no employer help, but thanks for the suggestion. I'd like any info you have. The expense is just ridiculous, especially considering how cheap generic drugs are so you know it doesn't cost even that much to make the things. My other diabetes med, a generic, is about $13 for thirty pills.

Here's the info page for the Januvia: http://www.canadadrugsonline.com/DrugMoreInfo6397.aspx The minimum you can order is 28 pills for $79. Mom said you just go online and place your order then fax them your prescription.

The thing with prescription drugs is that the original manufacturer has a lock on it for, I think, 10 years and can charge what they want. After that, generics can go on the market. Without insurance, my daughter's ADD medicine is over $300 and since it's considered a CDS, it can't be ordered online. Thankfully my ex has decent insurance but it still costs me $56/month. I occasionally have to take Valtrex for fever blisters (I don't get them like a normal person, they take over my whole face if untreated). When I first started taking them, it was $30-40 for FOUR pills. Now, it's less than $10.

YEAH!! \o/ We're supposed to get thundersnow tonight! *looks eagerly towards the west*

Seriously, take care out there! I've been watching the radar returns for most of the afternoon, and . . . did you get hammered as hard as it looked like you did? D:

Officially we got about ten inches--looks closer to a foot at my place. Didn't have a lot of wind so not a lot of drifting. My parents, about ten miles to the west, did get high winds. What was worse was that all that snow fell in about five hours. We may get a couple more inches tonight. :P

Yikes! We're only expecting about six inches, but "thundersnow" ALWAYS means a big mess. *battens down hatches*

Take care out there!
