Snow Day!

Our idiot governor said if you don't have to go anywhere, don't, so I'm actually listening to him. I feel a tad guilty at the moment since there's only about two inches out there and it's just lightly snowing (and thundering, yeah, FML, thunder snow with lightning and everything) but it's supposed to get heavier in the next hour and may come down at the rate of two to three inches an hour through early afternoon. I don't want to get stuck anywhere.

Also, the courts are closed so the office building is closed. If the courts were still open I'd feel guiltier. Also, the other attorney just lives a block from the office so he was going to cover my boss' hearing this afternoon if he couldn't get in from his mountaintop home, though no hearing, so no need for him to come in either. Leavenworth County courts closed as of 4:00 yesterday. Why ours had to wait until around 11:00 last night, no clue, but I'm glad they shut down.

Hell, KU announced its closing last night (as well as every other school around). They hardly ever close. So I'm guessing that everyone in power is really hoping we do get the snowmageddon or they're going to feel pretty stupid.

Apparently my trash will be picked up. I guess those huge trucks can get around. I'm not going out to drag the damn dumpster back in, though. I should go out and get ahead of the shoveling, but really don't want to.

In other news, KU gave me several heart attacks last night with its double overtime. Until the last minute of the second overtime we didn't score a basket in either overtime, just free throws. OSU had two chances to win it in the last thirty seconds, but both shots missed and we got the rebound before it went out of bounds and tossed it down the court with one second left and won by one point. Ugly game--great defense on both sides, horrible shooting on both sides too, luckily on our part as they were firing threes like crazy--but we won on the road. *phew* As we beat KSU twice--the team we're tied with for the Big 12 lead--the road to the Big 12 regular season championship still goes through Lawrence. :)

Due to Monday's holiday and Tuesday's at the parents' I'd always planned to do my weekly grocery shopping on Wednesday. Due to the coming storm the store was packed. I don't think I've ever seen all the check-outs open. Pharmacy was busy, too.

I ran out of my free samples of my secondary diabetes medicine, Januvia, and had to buy it. Even WITH my discount card, it was $284 for thirty pills!!! That's insane. I can't afford that. My dad said they'd help, but that's still insane. That's almost $10 a pill. I figured--roughly--that between the prescription drugs and the needles/strips etc. I'm spending over $500 a month. Most of that is two drugs, one of which I DO NOT NEED. I thought at $120 for thirty that the Diovan was ridiculously expensive. And I haven't had to buy any insulin--no clue how much that is.

So, that pissed me off.

Need to watch SPN and Arrow from last night--due to game going on and on and on I only got Survivor watched--but first I should go out and shovel. It's snowed another inch since I've been sitting here for the last fifty minutes.

Blech.

diabetes, snow day, snowmageddon, basketball, stupid body
