Torchwood 303: Children of Earth Pt 3

I have to be honest, tonight was kind of ho-hum for me. I know we're at the mid point and we had to get a lot of plot things in today but... yeah, I still can't understand how I love pretty much everything RTD writes for DW and yet that doesn't transfer to TW.

I really enjoyed last night's ep and I'm loving this whole week. It's great storytelling. I don't think it ever transcends its DW roots though - I don't think RTD makes the leap to adult sci fi - this is children's sci fi with some sex and nudity thrown in. It's got a lot of standard RTD stuff in - Lois Abiba's whole personality is very RTD, and the aliens with their slimey tendencies are children's sci fi aliens and nothing more scary or compelling.

The really good stuff was finding out about Jack's role in this in the past. He looks really cold when he's giving those kids away. It's strange about Jack though because in DW he's a bouncy, rather lovable rogue of a character who flirts with everything in sight, but in TW he's a dark, edgy kind of soul who actually doesn't flirt that much at all. We want to believe in his goodness but we're never entirely sure.
