Inside

Although I spent most of the week doing healthy and improving things outside in lovely scenery (*ahem*) we did spend a small amount of time lounging on cat-covered couches, eating cheese and throwing dice.

It was Traveller roleplaying once again, somewhat earlier in time than our previous campaigns, and with new characters. Fate and the dice decreed that my character was a kind of hillbilly-turned-Dana-Scully type, and she turned out to be pretty useful, with good medic skills (except when she rolled a 2 and broke people) and athletics skills.

I felt much more on top of this campaign than some previous campaigns, thanks to an excellent map of the universe on screen, and a very useful notebook that my character inherited from her uncle, which contained hints and mysteries that led to several quests, and a sort of subjective gazetteer of his neck of the galaxy. Pursuing leads in the notebook, we soon acquired an amazing alien ship, where the amazingness of the alien technology was entirely overshadowed by the strangeness of their toilet arrangements, and - after getting the plumbers and interior decorators in - we set about trading things like custard and basil from world to world, becoming rich beyond the dreams of avarice. Which was nice.

Along the way, we (either collectively or individually) also:

- Failed to track down some elephant tusks, but had some interesting tours of stately homes, museums and crazy castles while looking for them

- Accidentally broke an Ancient base

- Didn't bother rescue a poor girl who hadn't read the small print in her contract, and left her to her fate

- Prevented the Fifth Fontier War. Or maybe started it.

- Accidentally broke an Ancient weapons system

- Proved that the most important thing a space adventurer can carry is a pot of basil

- Accidentally broke Neil Oliver

- Were really kind of almost lawful good

- Didn't get into any fights whatsover

- Unless you count shooting at a spider. (It ran away.)

- Or tasering a team mate

- Or wiping out two ships with the casual pressing of a button. (We did angst about it a bit afterwards, though.)

- Overawed some pirates

- Had rocks fall, but nobody died

- Acquired some singing alien Furbies

- Failed to start the next big craze in console gaming. (The K'kwii, if anyone's interested in buying one.)

- Played Zero G dodgeball

- Met a god-like being, and decided that we didn't like him one little bit

- Offered work experience placements to teenagers

- Dithered. ("So you want us to align with the forces of Order against the forces of Chaos? Can we have a year to think about it, please?")
