I think about things like this all the time. One of my biggies is disposable diapers. Originally they were supposed to be a convenience for travelling. (Intentionally spelled in British fashion.) :-)

What I think is that parents (some, not all) get lazy with dishes and diapers. The worst offenders won't change, they won't budge.

The solution? Teachers need to instill it into kids so they bring it home to the parents. (I'm not saying teachers should have to raise kids, but with something like this they should act because they can make a difference for a child for LIFE!) I know I had teachers who made a difference in my recycling life.

Maybe the parents who care (you, me and others) ought to start nudging the teachers a little bit.

One of the nice things is when the kids learn it at school they take it home and TEACH the parents. It's a good thing. :-)

Oh!! I so agree!! I am going to go to the school of my sisters daughter and give them a nudge.. My kids school is a few steps ahead.. They have a huge recyle bin at the school for all of the paper and light cardboard (and we know how much paper kids at school can go through). They also taught them about the big house being a waste etc..

and diapers.. oh diapers.. my other sister was ready to go cloth and then read somewhere that the environmental impact is the same, blah blah,blah... so she went to disposable..

we know some people like this too, and it just awes me that some folks can be so unaware to their own waste and consumption.
