Crazy busy, like most weeks before a faire are. Monday I spent recovering from faire the weekend before. My feet were most unhappy with me, and my allergies were running amok. I love my new boots. I had no idea Jays could be destructive to gardens..?

We have this local blue jay. Haven't seen his mate, but she could be on a nest someplace close. Right after we first put in the garden he started coming into the yard, bold as brass. One day we came home from errands to discover that the lone cucumber plant had been bitten through. We've seen him in the garden since. So now, on the advice of the horticulture student, we're feeding him early in the morning-on the other side of the yard. We've seen him take the food, so here's hoping he leaves the garden alone from now on.
